National Pet Day: Breathe A Little Easier When They Do - AirDoctor

Our furry friends are like family. We’ve been known to give them birthday parties and share our homes and hearts (and beds) with our animal friends. Pets provide us with so much, so we at AirDoctor like to do what we can to ensure that they’re living their best lives. While we celebrate them everyday, April 11th is National Love Your Pet Day. Here’s why and how we plan to show our pets a little extra love.

The Power of Pets

Whether you’ve got a cat, dog, unique animal, or tank full of fish, we don’t need to tell you how special they are. When you see wagging tails or feel fur in your fingertips, it’s heartwarming—to say the least. In addition to providing companionship, there are several other ways pets enrich our lives.

According to the National Institutes of Health, the potential mental and physical health benefits of human-animal interactions are numerous, and include:

  • Decreased levels of the stress hormone, cortisol
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Reduced loneliness
  • Increased physical activity
  • Boosted mood
  • Increased feelings of social support
  • Improved attention and focus (for children diagnosed with ADHD)
  • Fewer behavioral problems and more sharing and cooperation in children

The AirDoctor team is well aware of the pawsitive impact our pets have on our lives—and we’re sure you are too! Spread the love on #NationalPetDay by sharing a photo of your furry friend. Don’t forget to tag us @airdoctorpro!

But What About All That Shedding?

If there’s one big annoyance with our furry friends it’s exactly that: their fur. While we love our pets, we don’t love the shedding.

Luckily, AirDoctor has our back by capturing flying airborne fuzzies. With an UltraHEPA filter capable of removing particles as small as .003 microns, it also provides a worry-free way to rid the air of pet dander, helping those with unfortunate allergies to their loved ones.

Because we love and care for them like they’re part of our human family, AirDoctor also ensures that the air our pets breathe is clean, healthy, and free of dangerous contaminants. Like humans, animals are impacted by air pollution. It can accumulate in their tissues, damage their organs, weaken their immune systems, and increase their vulnerability to disease.

How Will You Celebrate National Love Your Pet Day?

One of the best ways we can care for our pets on National Pet Day (and everyday) is by cleaning up the air they breathe. Here are a few other ways to show our pets a little extra TLC on April 11th:

  • Be sure that they’re up to date on veterinary check-ups and vaccines.
  • Treat them to a “spa day” by spending the afternoon grooming them.
  • Use the day as a good excuse to surprise them with a treat, game, new toy, or long walk.
  • Refill any missing stuffing from their bed and give it a good wash.

It’s estimated that there are around 6.5 million animals in shelters, so National Pet Day also provides a good reason for adopting one, or donating to an animal-based charity. Here are a few to support in the US:

While we show our two- and four-legged friends love everyday, hopefully this blog provided some inspiration for making National Pet Day a little extra special.
